Rays 7, Phillies 3: Brooks Conrad ripped a pair of two-run doubles and Ben Zobrist scored three times as visiting Tampa Bay completed a doubleheader sweep and kept Cliff Lee winless on the season.
After Sean Rodriguez opened the scoring with an RBI double in the second inning, Conrad gave Tampa Bay a 3-0 lead after depositing an offering from Lee (0-4) into left field. Zobrist and Rodriguez came around to score for the Rays, who posted a 3-2 triumph in the opener of the doubleheader.
Placido Polanco had an RBI double and John Mayberry Jr. added a run-scoring single in the fourth to trim the deficit to one, but Conrad answered in the sixth. Conrad, who entered the game with seven RBIs, plated Zobrist and Rodriguez again with a double off the right-center field wall to give Tampa Bay a 5-3 advantage.
Catcher Brian Schneider left the contest after he suffered a right ankle sprain while colliding with Rodriguez on the play. Carlos Ruiz replaced him to finish the game.
Brandon Gomes (2-2) allowed one hit in 2 2/3 innings to pick up the win.
Polanco added another RBI double and Hunter Pence scored twice for the Phillies, who have lost nine of Lee's 12 starts this season. Philadelphia dropped to 6-15 in June and fell back into the basement in the National League East.
