Wake Forest got physical and snapped a three-game losing streak with a 71-56 win at Boston College on Saturday.
C.J. Harris and Travis McKie, the ACC’s top scoring duo provided too much firepower against the conference’s worst offense. Wake (11-8, 2-3 ACC) also got tough on the glass, as Ty Walker ripped down 11 rebounds against a soft Boston College (7-12, 2-3 ACC) interior to give the Demon Deacons just their second ever win in Chesnut Hill.
Wake Forest’s season looked to be on the verge of collapsing after a 36-point blowout loss to North Carolina State, but Harris rallied his team to a competitive contest at Duke on Thursday and continued his aggressive play against Boston College, getting to the line eight times in a wire-to-wire win.
Boston College employed the slow tempo it desired but didn’t have enough shooters to answer Wake’s runs. Leading scorer Dennis Clifford had just eight points and was in foul trouble for most of the contest. Instead, the Eagles turned to the 3-point shot and hit just 1 of 10 attempts in the first half.
