Dee Bost scored a season-high 28 points, including seven of his team’s school-record tying 16 from 3-point range, and dished out nine assists as No. 18 Mississippi State cruised to a 106-68 victory over visiting Troy on Saturday.
Arnett Moultrie recorded his fifth double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds for Mississippi State (9-1), which extended its win streak to eight.
Renardo Sidney had a season-high 18 points and Jalen Steele added 15
points, all on 3-pointers, for the Bulldogs, who reached 100 points
for the first time since December of 2009.
Emil Jones registered 15 points and Will Weathers 11 for Troy (4-4), which had its three-game win streak snapped. The Trojans, who led the nation with 12 made 3-pointers per game, were held to 8-for-35 from behind the arc.
Mississippi State led just 16-13 early, but put together a 28-8 run to seize control and take a 54-26 halftime lead.
The Bulldogs made 8-of-15 from 3-point range and held the Trojans to 4-of-19 in the first half. Steele, who was 4-of-5 from behind the arc, and Moultrie each had 12 points in the first 20 minutes.
Mississippi State is 9-0 all time against Troy and improved to 4-0 against Sun Belt Conference teams this season.
