Eric Griffin had 23 points and 13 rebounds as Campbell rode a torrid shooting night to a surprising 77-61 victory at Iowa, continuing the best start in school history.
Griffin was 10-for-11 from the field for the Camels (5-0), who overcame 19 turnovers by shooting 62 percent on the evening. Iowa scored the last nine points of the period to get within seven at the break, but the Hawkeyes (3-2) never got any closer than five in the second half before Campbell — which won at Auburn a year ago — slowly pulled away.
The Camels, whose starting five played all but 20 minutes, shot 60 percent in the first half while pulling ahead by as many as 16 points, 38-22. Darren White finished with 17 points, while Trey Freeman added 15.
Matt Gatens and Roy Devyn Marble scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, for Iowa. The Hawkeyes attempted 21 more shots than Campbell (66-45) but hit just 36 percent from the floor.
