Aaron Dotson scored 16 points as visiting LSU ended a 10-game losing streak with an 84-82 victory over Mississippi State on Wednesday.
Storm Warren had 14 points and Garrett Green added 12 for the Tigers (11-17, 3-10 SEC), who hit nine 3-pointers en route to their first win since beating Arkansas on Jan. 12.
Renardo Sidney tied a career high with 24 points and Dee Bost added 15 for Mississippi State (14-13, 6-7).
The Bulldogs had a chance to win it after LSU's Ralston Turner split a pair of free throws, but Riley Benock’s 3-pointer from the right wing rattled out as the buzzer sounded.
LSU led for the entire second half until Sidney’s layup tied the game at 77 with 1:40 left. Green’s putback with 1:18 remaining put the Tigers back ahead for good.
It was a damaging loss for Mississippi State, which is battling Arkansas for a first-round bye in the upcoming SEC Tournament. The Bulldogs’ only hope to reach the NCAA Tournament is likely by winning the conference tournament.
