Jimmer Fredette scored 42 points and No. 9 Brigham Young improved to 5-0 in the Mountain West with a 94-85 victory over host Colorado State on Saturday.
Jackson Emery and Kyle Collinsworth added 16 points apiece as BYU (19-1) won its ninth straight game as it heads into Wednesday’s showdown against undefeated San Diego State.
Wes Eikmeier scored a career-high 25 points and made five 3-pointers for the Rams (13-6, 3-2).
Fredette, who leads the nation in scoring, scored 21 points in each half. It was the second time in three games Fredette scored more than 40 points, and the 14th 30-point game of his stellar career.
Fredette made four 3-point baskets and hit 16-of-17 free-throw attempts. Emery also made four 3-pointers.
Travis Franklin scored 21 points and Andy Ogide had 18 points and for Colorado State.
The Cougars shot 50 percent from the field and committed only seven turnovers.
Brandon Davies added 12 points for BYU.
BYU led 55-40 at halftime, but Colorado State pulled within six points with just over seven minutes left behind the hot shooting by Eikmeier, who was 5-for-8 from 3-point range.
