Northwestern roared out to a huge early lead and coasted to a 90-71 road victory over Iowa Wednesday night, snapping a three-game losing streak.
The Wildcats (11-4, 2-3 Big Ten) hit 8 of their first 12 shots from 3-point range while building a 33-11 cushion in the first 10 minutes of play. Both teams shot better than 50 percent from the floor, but Northwestern made twice as many 3-pointers and attempted 12 more shots overall.
Drew Crawford scored 19 points to pace Northwestern, hitting 5 of 9 shots from long range. Michael Thompson and John Shurna contributed 17 and 16 points, respectively. Bryce Cartwright led all scorers with 25 points for Iowa (7-9, 0-4), while Matt Gatens added 20 points in defeat.
Northwestern travels to face No. 24 Michigan State Saturday, while Iowa travels to No. 25 Minnesota Sunday.
