David Tairu scored 22 points as Texas Tech built an early double-digit lead and cruised to a 103-79 victory over visiting Georgia Southern in a non-conference game Tuesday night.
The Red Raiders (4-1) won their third straight game. Texas Tech led 49-38 at the half, and shot 53 percent from the floor in the game. Tairu hit eight of his first 10 shots.
The Red Raiders also got 17 points from John Roberson, and 12 apiece from Jamel Outler and Robert Lewandowski.
Georgia Southern fell to 2-3 on the season as its only wins are over non-division I teams. Ben Drayton scored a game-high 23 points for the Eagles.
Texas Tech built a 21-point lead early in the second half, and Georgia Southern never got closer than 14 points the rest of the way. The Red Raiders scored 13 straight points in the game’s final minutes to open up a 26-point lead.
