Suns 122, Warriors 109: Goran Dragic scored a career-high 34 points and added 10 assists as Phoenix outlasted visiting Golden State.
Dragic went 10-of-13 from the field and 6-of-7 from beyond the arc for the Suns, who jumped a half-game past the Warriors in the Western Conference standings. Gerald Green scored 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting and P.J. Tucker collected 16 points and 15 rebounds for Phoenix.
Stephen Curry recorded 28 points and nine assists to lead the Warriors. Harrison Barnes added 23 points off the bench and Klay Thompson scored 17 as Golden State played its second straight without the starting frontcourt of Andrew Bogut (shoulder) and David Lee (shoulder).
The Suns took a five-point lead into the fourth quarter and stretched it out to 100-92 on Green’s jumper less than two minutes into the period before the Warriors took off on an 8-2 run to make it a one-possession game. Dragic nailed a 3-pointer and P.J. Tucker had the other three points during a 6-0 spurt that created some breathing room.
Dragic nailed a 3-pointer with 4:22 left and found Tucker for a basket on the next possessions to make it an 11-point gap. Dragic’s 3-pointer from the top of the key with 36 seconds left gave him the career high and put the game away.
Phoenix held an eight-point lead early in the first quarter before settling for a 29-28 advantage at the end of the period. Dragic’s 3-pointer with 5:07 left in the half pushed the Suns ahead 50-41 but Curry hit a pair of 3-pointers in the final 3:01 to help cut it to 63-59 at the break.
Tucker hit a 3-pointer to stretch the lead to 76-62 just over four minutes into the third but Golden State scored on six straight possessions to help trim the deficit to 83-76. Barnes hit a 3-pointer and Curry added four points during an 11-4 run to end the quarter and send it into the fourth with the Suns up 95-90.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Jermaine O’Neal and Draymond Green combined for 16 points and 10 rebounds in place of Lee and Bogut. … Phoenix F Markieff Morris was held scoreless in 17 minutes, ending a string of 12 straight games in double figures. … The Suns outrebounded the Warriors 45-34 to help make up for 18 turnovers.
