Heat 109, Lakers 102: Chris Bosh scored 31 points as Miami held off a late charge and topped visiting Los Angeles.
LeBron James collected 27 points, 13 rebounds and six assists and Mario Chalmers scored 11 points as the Heat won for the fourth time in five games. Ray Allen scored 10 points for Miami while starting in place Dwyane Wade, who missed his fourth straight game due to knee soreness.
Pau Gasol recorded 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers, who have dropped eight of their last 10 games. Jodie Meeks scored 22 points, Nick Young added 19 off the bench and Kendal Marshall handed out 11 assists for Los Angeles.
James’ free throw gave the Heat a 96-86 lead with 5:54 left before Meeks hit two 3-pointers and Young added another as the Lakers scored on five straight possessions to chop it to 103-99 with 2:50 to play. James buried a 3-pointer out of a timeout to stretch the lead back to seven points and Miami held Los Angeles to one point in the final two minutes to put it away.
The Heat began the second quarter with an 11-2 run to open up a 41-29 lead and pushed it to a 14-point advantage before settling for a 57-46 lead at the break. Shane Battier’s 3-pointer made it a 62-46 advantage just over a minute into the third quarter but the Lakers would cut it to 79-71 late in the frame before settling for an 85-75 deficit heading to the fourth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Wade is reportedly continuing rehabilitation and conditioning on his troublesome knees and the Heat are not setting a timetable for his return. … The Lakers fell to 2-3 on their seven-game road trip, which continues Friday at Orlando. … The Heat shot 57.7 percent from the field but committed 18 turnovers, led by James’ five.
