Logan Gilbert pitched seven scoreless innings and Kyle Lewis homered for the second consecutive game as the host Seattle Mariners defeated the Houston Astros 6-0 Saturday night.
The Mariners won consecutive games for the first time since April 26 and will attempt to sweep the series from the American League West leaders Sunday afternoon.
Gilbert (5-2) allowed four hits, didn't walk a batter and struck out five. The right-hander, who was the AL's Pitcher of the Month in April when he went 3-0 with a 0.40 ERA, earned his first victory since May 1.
The Mariners scored in four of the first five innings against Houston right-hander Jose Urquidy (4-2).
Urquidy gave up six runs, five earned, on 12 hits in 4 2/3 innings. He walked two and struck out four in losing for the second time at T-Mobile Park this season.
The Mariners opened the scoring in the first. With one out and a runner at first, rookie Julio Rodriguez grounded into a fielder's choice. Rodriguez stole second and came home on J.P. Crawford's ground-ball single to right.
Seattle tacked on two more runs in the second. Lewis hammered the first pitch of the inning off the facade of the second deck in left-center field. An out later, Cal Raleigh hit a double and Jesse Winker grounded a single off the glove of second baseman Jose Altuve in shallow right, scoring Raleigh.
The Mariners left two runners on base in a scoreless third before adding a run in the fourth. France and Rodriguez led off with back-to-back singles to left, with both advancing on an error by outfielder Yordan Alvarez. France scored on a sacrifice fly by Eugenio Suarez to make it 4-0.
Seattle knocked Urquidy out of the game in the fifth. Lewis was hit by a pitch and Taylor Trammell doubled to right. Both runners scored on France's two-out single up the middle.
