Vladimir Guerrero Jr. launched a three-run home run and Toronto starter Hyun Jin Ryu struck out five over six scoreless innings to power the Blue Jays in a 13-1 rout of the host Boston Red Sox on Thursday night.

It was the 33rd homer of the season for Guerrero (2-for-5), who trails only Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani (37) for the major league lead. Ryu (10-5) allowed only two hits and walked none to earn the win.

Teoscar Hernandez finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs while Reese McGuire (3-for-5), Marcus Semien (2-for-4) and Santiago Espinal (2-for-4) all had multi-hit games for Toronto, which had dropped six of its last eight games.

Every batter in the Blue Jays' starting lineup drove in at least one run during the 16-hit attack.

Toronto salvaged a split of its four-game series against American League East rival Boston. The teams traded 4-1 wins in a seven-inning doubleheader on Wednesday after the Blue Jays lost 5-4 in the series opener Monday.

Bobby Dalbec doubled to plate the lone run for the Red Sox. Boston starter Eduardo Rodriguez (7-6) was knocked around for six runs on seven hits while walking four and striking out eight in just 3 1/3 innings.

The AL East-leading Red Sox have dropped two of three heading into a pivotal three-game road series against second-place Tampa Bay.

Hernandez doubled to plate two of Toronto's three runs in the first inning. With the Blue Jays leading 6-0 in the fifth, Guerrero cleared the Green Monster in left field with an estimated 426-foot homer to put the game out of reach.

Toronto left-hander Daniel Lynch (1-2, 7.88 ERA) starts Friday in the opener of a three-game home series versus Kansas City. The game marks the Blue Jays' first true home contest since Sept. 29, 2019 prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Boston left-hander Martin Perez (7-6, 4.18) starts on Friday against the Rays.
