Merrill Kelly allowed one run and six hits over 5 2/3 innings to help the Arizona Diamondbacks end a four-game losing streak with a 6-1 win against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday afternoon in Phoenix.
Kelly (9-12) struck out five and walked two in the finale of the four-game series. Andrew Chafin and Archie Bradley combined to blank the Giants over the final 3 1/3 innings.
Wilmer Flores had two hits, including a solo homer, David Peralta also homered, and Adam Jones had two RBIs in his first start in center field this season for Arizona.
Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner (8-8) was aiming to win his third straight start and sixth consecutive decision. He allowed four runs and six hits in six innings, striking out nine and walking two.
Scooter Gennett had two hits and an RBI for the Giants, who had won three straight and six of seven.
Bumgarner got the first two outs in the first inning before Arizona scored three runs.
Eduardo Escobar doubled to deep right and continued to third on an error by right fielder Austin Slater.
Christian Walker walked on four pitches before Jones hit a sinking liner to center field. Kevin Pillar came up short on his diving attempt, and Jones ended up with a two-run triple.
Josh Rojas followed with a single to center to make it 3-0.
Kelly retired nine in a row following a two-out single by Slater in the second inning.
Brandon Crawford and Donovan Solano had back-to-back two-out singles in the fifth, but Kelly struck out Bumgarner to end that threat.
Flores then homered to lead off the bottom of the fifth to stretch the lead to 4-0. It was his third homer of the series.
The Giants got a run in the sixth after Mike Yastrzemski tripled to lead off the inning and scored on Gennett's RBI single.
Peralta got the run back with a solo homer in the seventh, and Jake Lamb walked with the bases loaded in the eighth to make it 6-1.
Ketel Marte, who leads the Diamondbacks with a .320 batting average, missed his second straight game with lower back tightness.
