Indians 3, White Sox 2: Carlos Carrasco struck out seven in 6 2/3 innings and Jason Kipnis drove in the go-ahead run as visiting Cleveland took the rubber match of a three-game series from Chicago.

Jose Ramirez and Michael Brantley each drove in a run for the Indians, who pulled within four games of Seattle and Detroit in the race for the second American League wild-card spot. Carrasco (6-4) surrendered one run on four hits in his fourth straight dominant performance.

John Danks (9-9) was the tough-luck loser, allowing two runs and five hits in six innings as the White Sox fell for the eighth time in nine games. Jose Abreu extended his hitting streak to eight with an RBI single in the third for Chicago.

Michael Bourn led off the game with a triple to left and slid headfirst across the plate when Ramirez followed with a groundout to short. Adam Eaton singled, stole second and advanced on an overthrow before scoring the tying run in the third on Abreu’s 97th RBI.

Kipnis’ single in the sixth scored Ramirez and Cleveland extended the advantage in the seventh when Brantley’s single to left pushed across Roberto Perez. The White Sox put two on with two out in the eighth but Cody Allen came on and allowed an inherited runner to score before striking out four straight batters to earn his 18th save.
