Dodgers 3, Angels 0: Hyun-Jin Ryu threw a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks as host Los Angeles beat its Southern California neighbor for the second straight night.
Luis Cruz broke a scoreless tie with a two-run homer in the fifth and catcher A.J. Ellis drove in the other run for the Dodgers with a one-out single in the sixth. Ryu (6-2) retired 19 straight batters before Angels catcher Chris Iannetta doubled with two outs in the eighth.
Angels starter Joe Blanton (1-8) delivered his second consecutive quality start, allowing three runs and seven hits in seven innings without walking a batter, but it remains to be seen whether heβll remain in the rotation with starters Jered Weaver and Tommy Hanson coming off the disabled list this week.
Cruz hit a 2-2 pitch over the fence in left for a two-run homer, his first extra-base hit of the season. The home run was also the first allowed by the Angels in the last nine games.
Matt Kemp, who was dropped from third to fifth in the batting order after striking out eight times in 12 at-bats coming into the game, hit a one-out double in the sixth and came home on a single to right by Ellis for a 3-0 lead.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Dodgers SS Hanley Ramirez is expected to begin a rehab assignment later this week and could rejoin the team early next week. He has been sidelined since April 21 with a strained hamstring. β¦ Hanson is the probable starter for Friday's game against the visiting Astros. He has been away from the team for three weeks coping with the sudden death of his step-brother. In order to clear a roster spot, the Angels put LHP Sean Burnett on the 15-day disabled list with a sore elbow. β¦ The Angels came into the game hitting .319 in the previous nine games with 37 extra-base hits.
