Astros 8, White Sox 3: Jed Lowrie homered and drove in three runs as visiting Houston took the opener of this three-game interleague series.

Lowrie opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the first inning and deposited a 1-1 offering from Gavin Floyd (4-6) over the wall in right in the fifth for a two-run homer and a 4-0 lead. It was the 11th blast of the season for Lowrie, who has gone deep in three of his last five games.

Brian Bogusevic belted a three-run shot and Brett Wallace added a solo blast for the Astros, who won for just the third time in 13 contests.

Wallace led off the second with his first homer of the year and Bogusevic provided the final margin in the ninth with his fourth shot. Bogusevic was back in right field one day after making his major-league debut as a pitcher in a 14-2 loss to St. Louis.

Wandy Rodriguez (5-4) recorded just his second win in seven starts, allowing three runs over 5 1/3 innings. The left-hander yielded nine hits, giving him 28 hits allowed in 15 1/3 frames over his last three outings.

Floyd allowed four runs and surrendered on four hits over six innings after giving up a total of 37 in 19 2/3 frames over his previous four starts.

Adam Dunn and Alexei Ramirez each had two hits and an RBI for the White Sox, who fell to 3-4 on their nine-game homestand.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ramirez received a replacement gold medal from the 2004 Olympics on Friday. Countryman Jose Contreras of the Philadelphia Phillies delivered the medal to Ramirez, who earned it as a member of Cuba's championship team but lost it over four years ago. ... Astros IF Marwin Gonzalez was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a bruised right heel. IF Brian Bixler was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to replace him. ... The contest was the first of Houston's nine-game road trip.
