LaHair led off the second with a ground-rule double and scored later in the frame on Ian Stewart's groundout for a 1-0 lead. Tony Campana began the third with a single and crossed the plate on Castro's sacrifice fly two batters later, doubling the advantage.
Mather belted a solo shot off Kyle Kendrick (0-2) with two outs in the fourth and the Cubs added two in the eighth to seal the win.
