Lucas Duda knocked in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning and the New York Mets got help from two sparkling defensive plays in the ninth en route to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Florida Marlins on Wednesday.
David Wright made a diving stop on Omar Infante's hard grounder to third for the second out in the ninth, and Ruben Tejada made a running play on a grounder up the middle to get Mike Stanton for the final out as the Marlins stranded the tying run at second.
The Mets have taken three of four in the series which wraps up Thursday after losing the teams' first four meetings in New York this season.
Jose Reyes went 2-for-4 for his major league-leading 51st multi-hit game and scored the go-ahead run on Duda's single up the middle against Mike Dunn.
New York's Jason Bay went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI to snap an 0-for-16 skid.
The Marlins' Chris Volstad (5-12) allowed three runs (two earned) over 6 1/3 innings to remain winless in six major-league starts since July 10.
Florida dropped to 10-36 when Hanley Ramirez is not in the starting lineup. Ramirez could return from a shoulder injury as early as Friday.
