Sean Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs, and Ben Zobrist also had three hits and drove in three runs as the Tampa Bay Rays cruised to an 8-1 victory over the host Seattle Mariners on Sunday.
Rodriguez and Sam Fuld each scored twice while Jeremy Hellickson tossed seven impressive innings for Tampa Bay, which has won three of four.
Zobrist extended his hitting streak to 11 games with an RBI single in the third inning and Rodriguez gave the Rays a 4-0 advantage with a two-run single in the fourth off Jason Vargas (6-10), who suffered his fifth straight loss.
Zobrist added two more runs in the sixth with a base hit before Rodriguez capped the scoring with a solo blast in the eighth off Charlie Furbush, who was making his Mariners debut after being acquired from Detroit in a six-player deal on Saturday.
Hellickson (10-7) yielded one run and five hits to win his third straight decision. The 24-year-old retired the first 11 batters he faced and kept Seattle hitless through five innings before allowing a leadoff single by Chone Figgins in the sixth.
Casper Wells, who also came over from Detroit on Saturday, singled and drove in a run for the Mariners.
