Blues 5, Bruins 1: Vladimir Tarasenko scored twice and T.J. Oshie collected a goal and an assist as host St. Louis spoiled the NHL debut of Malcolm Subban.

Petteri Lindbohm added his first career tally and fellow defenseman Alex Pietrangelo also scored for the Blues, who improved to 16-3-1 in their last 20 games and moved within four points of Central Division-leading Nashville. Alex Steen notched three assists, Jaden Schwartz added two and Jake Allen finished with 26 saves.

Brad Marchand scored his team-leading 17th goal for the reeling Bruins, who are mired in a season-high six-game skid (0-4-2) and remained just one point ahead of idle Florida in the race for the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. Subban (three saves) yielded three goals on as many shots in the second period before being relieved by Tuukka Rask (seven saves), only to re-enter the game in the third.

Pietrangelo's one-timer from along the left-wing boards handcuffed Subban 4:16 into the second period to give St. Louis a 2-1 lead and Oshie's blast from the right faceoff circle 53 seconds later sent Subban to the bench. Tarasenko capped the Blues' four-goal second period by cleaning up a rebound during a power play at 13:59 before netting his team-leading 31st tally during a 2-on-1 rush at 11:45 of the third.

Marchand's wrist shot from the left circle caromed off Allen's glove and into the net midway into the first period to open the scoring. Lindbohm answered in similar fashion as his shot from the point deflected in off Subban's glove 48 seconds into the middle session.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tarasenko, 23, became the youngest Blues player since Brendan Shanahan (1991-92) to reach the 30-goal plateau. ... Boston C David Krejci injured himself while delivering an open-ice hit on Steen early in the second period. Krejci had difficulty putting weight on his left leg as he skated off and did not return. ... Bruins RW Brian Ferlin registered three hits in his NHL debut, becoming the sixth Florida-born player to appear in a game.
