Rangers 5, Maple Leafs 2: Marian Gaborik scored the first of his two goals to snap a tie with 7:03 remaining in the third period and added two assists as New York overcame an early two-goal deficit to storm past visiting Toronto.

Marc Staal became the first Rangers defenseman to score a goal this season when he tied the game with 7:36 left in the third. Brad Richards and Brian Boyle also scored and Henrik Lundqvist finished with 15 saves as New York enjoyed a 42-17 edge in shots on goal.

Mikhail Grabovski scored for the third straight contest, James van Riemsdyk had a power-play goal and defenseman John-Michael Liles added a pair of assists for Toronto. James Reimer finished with 37 saves for the Maple Leafs, who led 2-0 after the first period despite being outshot 14-3.

Staal knotted the contest at 2-2 after converting a brilliant tic-tac-toe play with Gaborik and defenseman Michael Del Zotto. Staal then set up the eventual winning goal as his point shot deflected off the stick of Gaborik and past Reimer.

Boyle provided insurance after deflecting Del Zotto's wrist shot from the right faceoff circle and Gaborik added an empty-net goal to cap the scoring.

GAME NOTEBOOK: New York was on the verge of signing veteran center Jason Arnott to a one-year, $1.6 million deal on Saturday. A Stanley Cup winner with New Jersey, the 38-year-old Arnott collected 17 goals and as many assists with St. Louis last season. ... The Rangers' top line of Gaborik, Richards (goal, assist) and Rick Nash (two assists) finished with eight points. ... Toronto, which went 1-for-4 on the power play, is 2-for-28 in its last eight games versus New York.
