Peyton Manning continued his midseason swoon with four more interceptions, including a costly one in overtime, and David Buehler booted a 38-yard field to give the Dallas Cowboys a 38-35 win over the Colts at Indianapolis on Sunday.
The Cowboys (4-8) blew leads of 17-0, 27-14 and 35-28 late in the fourth quarter but took over after Manning’s fourth interception in Indianapolis territory to set up Buehler’s game-winning kick.
Manning has thrown 11 interceptions in the past three weeks, all Colt losses. Manning threw two touchdown passes and finished 26 for 48 passing for 365 yards. Reggie Wayne had 14 receptions for 200 yards.
The Cowboys raced out to a 17-0 lead. Tashard Choice (100 yards, 19 carries) opened the scoring with a 20-yard run on their first possession. After Buehler’s first field goal, Orlando Scandrick intercepted Manning for a 40-yard touchdown.
But Manning closed the gap with touchdown passes of 13 yards to Pierre Garcon and 34 yards to Wayne.
Buehler kicked a 46-yard field goal to make it 20-14, and Sean Lee returned another Manning interception 31 yards to give Dallas a 27-14 lead.
The Colts (6-6) responded quickly as Javarris James capped a long drive with a 1-yard run and Taj Smith blocked a Dallas punt and returned it 2 yards for a touchdown to give Indy its first lead at 28-27 early in the fourth quarter.
Dallas came right back with an 18-play drive that took up almost the entire fourth quarter and was capped by a 2-yard touchdown pass from Jon Kitna (18 of 26, 167 yards) to Jason Witten.
But James capped a quick Colts’ drive with another 2-yard score with 29 seconds left to send the game into overtime.
