Trevor Keels used a big second half to finish with 25 points as No. 7 Duke whipped host Clemson 82-64 on Thursday night.
Duke responded from a last-second loss to Virginia on Monday night, never trailing in this one. The Blue Devils (20-4, 10-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) moved back into a tie for first place in the conference with Notre Dame.
Keels, a freshman guard who was playing in a reserve role, also had 11 rebounds for his first collegiate double-double. He shot 8-for-9 in the second half, when he had all except two of his points.
Mark Williams racked up 16 points and Paolo Banchero provided 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Blue Devils, who made nine of their 22 attempts from 3-point range.
PJ Hall notched 17 points and Chase Hunter and Naz Bohannon both had 13 points for Clemson (12-12, 4-9), which lost for the seventh time in its last nine games. The stretch included a two-point loss two nights earlier to visiting North Carolina in a game the Tigers led for a majority of the time.
Against Duke, Clemson closed within 45-40 in the second half before Keels and the Blue Devils took over.
The Tigers wound up just 5-for-18 from beyond the 3-point arc.
Duke led 38-27 at halftime, with Williams posting 10 points on 5-for-5 shooting. The Blue Devils had a 26-15 rebounding edge at the break.
Clemson starters were a combined 6-for-20 from the field in the first half. The Tigers lost starter David Collins because of a flagrant-foul ejection in the first half based on a hard hit on Duke's Wendell Moore Jr. Moore avoided a major injury and finished with a game-high eight assists plus eight points.
Duke pulled out a 71-69 victory against Clemson on Jan. 25 in Durham, N.C.
The Blue Devils visit Boston College on Saturday, the same day Clemson plays host to Notre Dame.
