Terance Mann hit a 17-foot, falling away running jumper with 1.8 seconds left in overtime to give No. 12 Florida State a stunning 65-63 victory over No. 16 Virginia Tech in the quarterfinals of the ACC tournament on Thursday.

The fourth-seeded Seminoles (26-6) will play top-seeded Virginia on Friday in the semifinals.

The loss was a heartbreaker for the fifth-seeded Hokies (24-8), who held a three-point lead with 19 seconds left in regulation. Florida State's Devin Vassell hit a corner 3-pointer with 4.5 seconds left to tie the game at 56 and force overtime.

The Hokies trailed for nearly 39 minutes until Kerry Blackshear Jr.'s dunk with 1:16 remaining in regulation gave Virginia Tech its first lead at 54-53. Blackshear scored six straight points in the final 2:02. His short jumper in the lane with 19 seconds left gave the Hokies a 56-53 lead, leading to Vassell's tying 3-pointer.

Vassell led the Seminoles with 14 points, connecting on four 3-pointers.

The loss overshadowed outstanding performances from Blackshear (17 points), Hokies leading scorer Nickeil Alexander-Walker (21) and Ahmed Hill, who scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half to power Virginia Tech's comeback.

The Hokies trailed by eight with 15 minutes to play in regulation.

Florida State took a 26-24 lead into halftime despite scoring just nine points in the final 12 minutes of the half. The Seminoles squandered a 13-point lead and were tied at 24-24 before two free throws by Trent Forrest.

Contrasting styles were on display as both teams were powered by big runs in the first 20 minutes.

The Seminoles scored eight points in 58 seconds out of the first TV timeout to power a 13-0 run that gave them a 17-4 lead with 12:03 to play. The Hokies didn't make a field goal for six-plus minutes.

But Virginia Tech answered with a 13-2 run of its own to pull within 19-17 with 5:35 to play. The Seminoles went 3 1/2 minutes with a field goal during the run.

The Hokies missed all 11 of their 3-point shots before the break but scored 18 of their 24 points in the paint. The Seminoles went 4-for-11 from deep but struggled mightily in their halfcourt offense.

Alexander-Walker led Virginia Tech with seven points and Blackshear added six.

Florida State leading scorer Mfiondu Kabengele, who finished with seven points, was held scoreless in the first half on two field-goal attempts.
