Arizona guards Kadeem Allen and Allonzo Trier each scored 13 points to lead a balanced attack as the 11th-ranked Wildcats beat Boise State 68-59 in the third-place game of the Wooden Legacy tournament in Anaheim, Calif., on Sunday.
Allen hit a key 3-point shot for the final points with 46 seconds left.
The Wildcats (6-1) led by 19 points with 8:18 to go but Boise State (3-4) eventually cut the deficit to 62-53 on four free throws with 4:27 left after Arizona forward Ryan Anderson fouled out after picking up an offensive foul and then a technical foul.
With starting posts Anderson and Mark Tollefsen having fouled out, and typical starting center Kaleb Tarczewski out with an ankle injury, Arizona coach Sean Miller opted for a five-guard lineup the rest of the way.
Forward James Webb III led Boise State with 17 points, including a layup with 1:23 left to cut the lead to 65-59. But then Allen delivered the 3-point dagger on the other end.
Broncos forward Nick Duncan added 10 points but fouled out with 5:14 to go.
Trier made 5 of 6 shots from the field. Anderson finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. Tollefsen and guard Gabe York each had 10 points.
Tarczewski missed his second consecutive game with a sprained ankle. His status for Saturday's game at No. 10 Gonzaga was unclear.
The game was a rematch of a Nov. 19 meeting in McKale Center in Tucson. Arizona won 88-76 when Webb scored 27 points.
