Forward Tyler Cavanaugh scored 18 points and guard Patricio Garino had 16 as No. 21 George Washington routed Saint Peter's 87-74 Saturday afternoon for its fourth straight win.
Center Kevin Larsen had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Colonials, who entered the top 25 rankings this week for the first time since 2006.
Cavanaugh scored 13 points in the first half and the Colonials shot 59 percent from the field for a 46-29 halftime lead. GW never trailed and led by as many as 24 points.
Guard Trevis Wyche scored 26 points and forward Antwon Portley had 21 for the Peacocks (3-6). Saint Peter's shot 51 percent from the field, but GW hit 55.2 percent of its attempts and outrebounded the visitors 34-24. The Peacocks have lost two straight.
Including victories over Seton Hall, Penn State and Rutgers, George Washington swept its four-game homestand and improved to 8-0 at Smith Center this season.
Cavanaugh made all three of his 3-point attempts. Guard Paul Jorgensen, who had 12 points for the Colonials, went 2 for 2.
GW plays its next two games on the road starting with Tuesday's meeting at DePaul. Saint Peter's hosts Saint Francis (Brooklyn) Wednesday.
