No. 21 Connecticut 68, Temple 55: Shabazz Napier led the way with 17 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists as the visiting Huskies turned up the defense to dispatch the Owls.

Ryan Boatright scored 14 points and DeAndre Daniels added 13 for Connecticut (21-5, 9-4 American Athletic Conference), which limited Temple (7-18, 2-11) to 33.9 percent from the field. Amida Brimah recorded 10 points and five boards while locking down the interior defensively.

Quenton DeCosey recorded 16 points and eight rebounds to lead the Owls, who slipped back into a tie for last place in the AAC with Central Florida. Dalton Pepper had 11 points and seven boards but combined with DeCosey to shoot 9-for-33.

The Owls used a 10-3 run to draw within 40-35 less than five minutes into the second half but went without a field goal for nearly 10 minutes as Connecticut pulled away. Napier’s three-point play with less than seven minutes left extended the gap to 52-38 and Temple’s late rally fell short.

Boatright scored five points during an 11-0 run in the first half that gave the Huskies the lead for good. Daniels scored on back-to-back possessions late in the half to help give Connecticut a 33-25 cushion at the break.
