Angelo Johnson led the Golden Eagles (8-2) to their fourth straight victory with 23 points and four assists, one of them setting up Watson’s for his tie-breaking trey. Watson had a game-high 11 assists, including a pass for a dunk by Torye Pelham on the ensuing possession that stretched the lead to five points. Southern Miss also got 14 points and seven rebounds from Jonathan Mills.
Ole Miss (9-2) had its five-game winning streak broken. The Rebels wasted a 26-point effort from Terrance Henry and 19 points from Dundrecous Nelson, who both fouled out.
