Alex Oriakhi had 16 points and eight rebounds and No. 4 Connecticut dominated the second half en route to an 80-60 victory over Maine on Thursday.

Jeremy Lamb added 16 points and DeAndre Daniels finished with 15 for the Huskies (3-0), who extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 14 games.

After leaning heavily on the combination of Lamb and fellow sophomore guard Shabazz Napier in its first two games, Connecticut spread the scoring around on Thursday. Freshman phenom Andre Drummond turned in his best effort with 11 points and 13 rebounds and Tyler Olander recorded his first double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.

The Huskies struggled a bit in the first half, going into the locker room with a 36-31 lead. They turned it up defensively out of the break, holding the Black Bears (1-1) without a field goal for the first 10:26 of the second half. Drummond’s put-back dunk with 10:19 left in the game capped a 23-2 run to start the half.

The defending national champions have a chance to extend their winning streak without a ranked opponent on the schedule until No. 20 Cincinnati visits on Jan.18.

Justin Edwards led with 20 points for Maine.
