Alec Burks scored 22 points and the Colorado Buffaloes had little trouble with Alcorn State 91-51 Tuesday night at Boulder, Colo.
First-year Colorado coach Tad Boyle, who was not happy with his team's defensive play in two consecutive road losses, did not start Burks or his other star, Cory Higgins. Burks and Higgins scored 29 and 28 points, respectively, in the Buffaloes' 83-81 loss in overtime at San Francisco on Saturday.
Burks entered Tuesday's game with Colorado trailing 10-8, and scored five straight points as the Buffaloes went on a 20-0 run to seize control.
For emphasis, Boyle did not start Burks and Higgins in the second half either.
Higgins finished with 16 points, while Marcus Relphorde scored 15 for Colorado (2-2), which also lost at Georgia 83-74 Nov. 15.
Marquiz Baker scored 13 points for Alcorn State (0-4), which entered the game ranked 322nd out of 348 Division I teams in scoring at 57.3 points per game. The Braves lost to Purdue 103-48 Wednesday.
