Pistons 98, Bucks 95: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 19 points and Brandon Jennings added 15 as Detroit held off visiting Milwaukee.
Josh Smith finished with 14 points and eight rebounds and Caron Butler also scored 14 off the bench for the Pistons, who shot 11-for-23 from 3-point range. Andre Drummond contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds for Detroit.
Jabari Parker scored a season-high 18 points and Brandon Knight finished with 17 points and nine assists for the Bucks. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jared Dudley led the reserves with nine points apiece.
Jennings sank three 3-pointers in the final 2:30 of the third quarter to help the Pistons regain the lead at 76-72 heading into the fourth. Detroit didn’t let this advantage get away as Butler scored five points in a 7-1 burst to put the Pistons up by eight at the midway point of the final quarter and Monroe and Smith each made layups in the final 1:13 to push the lead back to four.
The Pistons never trailed during a first half in which they led by as many as 13 before giving up the final seven points of the opening quarter and the first two of the second to see their lead whittled to four. Detroit maintained the advantage and eventually took a 51-44 lead into the half, but the Bucks took their first lead and moved ahead by five with an 11-0 run late in the third quarter.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Pistons came in averaging a league-low 89.5 points and the only NBA team shooting under 40 percent from the floor (39.5). … Detroit also came in second in the NBA with the fewest turnovers (10.5), but committed six in the last four minutes of first quarter and finished with 19. … Jennings was drafted ninth overall by the Bucks in 2009 and spent his first four seasons in Milwaukee.
