Hawks 109, Nets 95: Jeff Teague scored a career-high 28 points and added 11 assists as host Atlanta overcame Josh Smith's absence to end Brooklyn's season-high seven-game winning streak.
Two nights after scoring just 58 points in a one-sided loss to Chicago, the Hawks nearly equaled that output in the first half as they won for just the second time in eight games. Devin Harris had 18 points, Al Horford added 17 and 13 rebounds and Zaza Pachulia chipped in 13 points, 11 boards and eight assists.
Brook Lopez's 22 points led the Nets while Joe Johnson added 15 in his first game in Atlanta since being traded to Brooklyn in the offseason. Deron Williams chipped in 12 points and nine assists.
Atlanta jumped out to a double-digit lead early in the second on a DeShawn Stevenson 3-pointer from the top of the arc - his first points of 2013 - and maintained it for most of the quarter, going into the break ahead 56-40. The Hawks continued rolling in the third, with Teague's nine points on 4-of-4 shooting the catalyst for an 88-69 lead entering the fourth.
The Nets closed the cap to 12 on a Kris Humphries basket that capped a 13-4 run with 7:45 remaining, but a long Teague jumper stemmed the surge and the Hawks weren't threatened the rest of the way.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Smith was given a one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team. Hawks coach Larry Drew said prior to the game that no further discipline was expected. ... Horford secured his 19th double-double of the season early in this one, scoring his ninth and 10th points with 5:54 remaining in the second half and pulling down his 10th rebound 26 seconds later. ... Atlanta finished with 33 assists on 45 made field goals.
