Nick Young had 31 points to lead the Washington Wizards to their first road win of the season with a 115-100 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday.
The Wizards, who entered the contest with an 0-25 mark on the road, defeated a Cavaliers club which just ended the longest losing streak in NBA history at 26 games with an overtime victory on Friday against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Washington never trailed in this one by opening a 17-point lead in the first quarter. The Wizards had 95 points after three quarters and coasted through the fourth.
John Wall had 19 points and 14 assists, falling one assist shy of equaling his career high. Andray Blatche had 17 points and nine rebounds and Josh Howard added 16 points and five rebounds after missing 19 games while dealing with discomfort in his surgically repaired left knee.
Antawn Jamison had 21 points and J.J. Hickson had 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who returned to their losing ways. They have now dropped 37 of their last 39 games.
Young dribbled the clock out, smiled and heaved the ball in the air in celebration before pumping his fist when it was over. Prior to the game, Young called this “one of those games you can’t lose.â€
