Rookie Ke'Bryan Hayes went 5-for-5 with three doubles and Colin Moran homered and drove in four runs to lift the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates to an 8-0 romp over the Cleveland Indians on Saturday.
Bryan Reynolds belted a two-run homer and Jose Osuna also went deep as Pittsburgh (19-40) banged out 13 hits en route to just its sixth road win of the season, tying Texas for the fewest road wins in the majors.
Joe Musgrove (1-5) followed up a career-high 11 strikeouts by fanning 10 and scattering 3 hits over seven innings for the Pirates, who have won four of their last five games overall.
The Indians (34-25) mustered just five hits to see their six-game winning streak come to a halt. The setback was also costly in that the loss, paired with Minnesota's win over Cincinnati, eliminated Cleveland from the American League Central race.
The Pirates wasted little time getting the early jump on the Indians, with Moran slapping a single to left-center field off Aaron Civale (4-6) to plate Hayes to open the scoring in the first inning.
Osuna doubled the advantage after depositing a 2-2 sinker from Civale over the wall in right field for his third homer of the season.
Josh Bell's RBI single kept the momentum going in the third inning before Reynolds sent a 2-0 fastball from Civale over the wall in left-center field to stake the Pirates to a 5-0 lead. Reynolds' homer was his seventh of the season and second in three games.
Moran followed suit in the fourth inning after depositing a 1-0 curveball from Civale over the wall in right field for a three-run homer. Moran's team-leading 10th blast was his second in three games.
Civale gave up eight runs on 10 hits in four innings to take the loss, striking out four without a walk.
