The Tampa Bay Rays scored a pair of unearned runs with the help of two Texas throwing errors in the 11th inning in a 5-3 win over the Rangers on Tuesday night in Arlington, Texas.

With the score 3-3 in the 11th, Willy Adames narrowly legged out an infield single to keep the frame alive and put runners on first and second with two outs.

Kean Wong then hit a dribbler down the first base line, and reliever Emmanuel Clase (2-3) threw wide of first base for an error.

Second baseman Rougned Odor retrieved the ball, but his throw to shortstop to get Adames sailed into left field for a second error to score Nate Lowe.

Guillermo Heredia then singled home Adames for a 5-3 lead.

Emilio Pagan (4-2) pitched a scoreless 10th, and Pete Fairbanks pitched around two hits in the bottom of the 11th to notch his first career save.

Austin Meadows slugged a two-run homer, and Joey Wendle (triple, RBI, run) and Heredia (double, RBI, run) each contributed two hits for the Rays, who won their sixth straight.

Tampa Bay (87-59) held its 1 1/2-game lead over Oakland for the AL's top wild-card spot after the A's thumped the Astros 21-7 in Houston.

Nick Solak went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer, and Willie Calhoun doubled in a run for the Rangers (72-74), who recorded just five hits.

Texas starter Lance Lynn worked seven innings and allowed one run, but reliever Rafael Montero gave up Meadows' two-run homer in the eighth to hand Lynn a no-decision.

Tampa Bay starter Ryan Yarbrough retired the first nine batters he faced, but the lefty had a brief moment of wildness that led to Texas plating the game's first runs in a three-run fourth inning.

Yarbrough plunked Shin-Soo Choo to open the frame. Two batters later, Calhoun sliced a double inside the left field line that scored Choo from first for a 1-0 lead.

Solak lofted a towering fly ball to left field -- an estimated 35-degree launch angle by Statcast -- on a 3-1 changeup from Yarbrough, and the shot landed in the seats for a two-run homer and a 3-0 Rangers lead.

The Rays finally touched up Lynn in the fifth after Heredia lashed a one-out double and scored two batters later on Wendle's single to right to make it 3-1.

Meadows launched a homer, his 29th, to straightaway center field off a 98 mph fastball from Montero to knot the game 3-3 in the eighth.
