Rays 2, Mariners 1: David Price struck out 12, David DeJesus smacked a tying homer in the top of the ninth and Matt Joyce delivered a run-scoring single later in the inning as visiting Tampa Bay rallied to edge Seattle.

The Rays were shut down on four hits over eight innings by Hisashi Iwakuma before unloading on former closer Fernando Rodney (1-2) in the ninth. DeJesus homered to right to start the inning before James Loney, Desmond Jennings and Joyce all hit two-out singles to make a winner out of Price (4-3).

Price went the distance for the second time this season and struck out two in the ninth to match his season high for strikeouts. The left-hander allowed one run and six hits and didn’t walk anyone while prevailing in his first career start at Safeco Field.

Iwakuma’s standout effort appeared as it might hold up until Rodney suffered his second blown save of the season to give Tampa Bay its second win in the last eight games. Iwakuma has pitched 16 scoreless innings over his last two starts.

Seattle leadoff hitter James Jones doubled off Price in the first inning and moved around the bases on infield outs by Stefen Romero and Robinson Cano. Dustin Ackley and Cano each had two hits and four of Seattle’s six hits against Price were doubles.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Price has 70 strikeouts against only six walks in 62 2/3 innings this season. … Seattle OF Michael Saunders (knee) was held out of the starting lineup for the third straight game. … Rays RHP Alex Cobb (oblique) is expected to throw a bullpen on Wednesday and follow up with a rehab start on Saturday at a yet to be determined location.
