Royals 7, Angels 4 (13): Pinch runner Jarrod Dyson scored the go-ahead run on an error as Kansas City outlasted host Los Angeles and evened the series.
Danny Valencia led off the 13th with a double off Mike Morin (0-1) and was replaced by Dyson, who raced for third when Alcides Escobar laid down a bunt. Morin fielded the ball but could not hit Howie Kendrick racing to cover first, allowing the run to score and making a winner of Aaron Crow (2-1).
Norichika Aoki added an RBI single and Billy Butler lifted one of his two sacrifice flies later in the 13th while Greg Holland worked the bottom of the inning for his 14th save. Eric Hosmer (4-for-7) and Lorenzo Cain combined for seven hits and two RBIs while Erick Aybar and Mike Trout homered to lead the Angels' offense.
Aoki reached on an infield single in the third inning and went to third on Hosmer’s base hit before Butler’s sacrifice fly pushed across the first run. Cain added an RBI single later in the frame and Hosmer’s run-scoring base hit in the fourth made it 3-0.
The Angels got back into it in the fourth, when Raul Ibanez led off with a double and Aybar followed by belting a first-pitch fastball out to right. Trout, who robbed Butler of a home run in the fourth, knocked a solo blast in the fifth and Los Angeles took the lead when James Shields’ wild pitch made it between catcher Salvador Perez’s legs and allowed Albert Pujols to score from third.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Angels starter Matt Shoemaker allowed three runs - two earned - on eight hits in five innings, while Shields was charged with four runs on nine hits in six frames. … Los Angeles RF Josh Hamilton (thumb) missed his second straight rehab game due to lingering soreness. … Perez (hand) returned from a four-game absence and went 2-for-6.
