Dodgers 3, Rockies 2: Juan Uribe delivered an RBI single in the ninth inning for his third hit and Zack Greinke struck out eight in eight innings as visiting Los Angeles moved into first place in the National League West.
After Colorado tied it 2-2 in the eighth on Justin Morneau's triple, Matt Kemp walked to lead off the ninth against LaTroy Hawkins (2-2) and advanced to second on Scott Van Slyke's groundout to set the stage for Uribe, who ripped a shot past second baseman DJ LeMahieu. Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 26th save.
Adrian Gonzalez and A.J. Ellis also recorded RBIs for the Dodgers, who moved one-half game ahead of San Francisco with their 14th win in 20 contests. Greinke (11-4) improved to 7-0 with a 2.01 ERA in nine starts against the NL West this season after allowing one earned run and nine hits.
Morneau and LeMahieu had two hits apiece while Josh Rutledge drove in the other run for the Rockies, who began a 10-game homestand with their 13th loss in 15 games and fifth straight setback to the Dodgers. Franklin Morales yielded two runs (one earned) and four hits in five innings in his first start since May 31.
Gonzalez laced a two-out RBI single in the third and Ellis added a sacrifice fly in the fourth before Rutledge delivered a two-out pinch-hit double in fifth. Morneau ripped a shot into the right-center gap to score Charlie Blackmon before Greinke popped up Troy Tulowitzki and struck out Nolan Arenado to escape further damage.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Arenado returned after missing 37 games with a broken finger and went 0-for-4. To make room for Arenado, Colorado returned LHP Christian Friedrich (0-3, 9.45 ERA in three starts with the Rockies) to Triple-A Colorado Springs. ... Dodgers starters have issued fewer than three walks in 37 straight turns, surpassing the 2005 Twins for the longest streak in the modern era (since 1900). ... Greinke is 13-1 with a 2.14 ERA in 21 outings against the NL West since joining the Dodgers, who are 33-13 in Greinke's starts.
