Dodgers 6, Giants 5: Mark Ellis and Hanley Ramirez each blasted two-run homers as host Los Angeles staved off a late rally by San Francisco and extended its winning streak to a season-high four games.
The Giants had two runners on with two outs in the ninth before Matt Kemp made a leaping catch at the center-field wall on Marco Scutaro’s fly ball to preserve the win. The Giants scored two runs earlier in the inning off Brandon League, who allowed all three batters he faced to reach base.
Stephen Fife (2-2) yielded three runs on four hits over 6 2/3 innings and Paco Rodriguez recorded the final three outs for his first career save. Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen was unavailable after appearing in three straight games.
Ramirez broke a 2-2 tie when he sparked a four-run sixth inning with his fifth home run off Mike Kickham (0-2), who yielded six runs (five earned) over 5 1/3 innings in his second major-league start. The Giants have lost eight of their last 11 games to fall one game
under .500 for the first time since losing on opening day.
After Ellis gave the Dodgers an early lead with a two-run homer in the third, Buster Posey hit a solo shot in the fourth and the Giants added a run in the fifth when Hunter Pence scored on Andres Torres’ grounder. Brandon Belt launched a solo homer in the seventh to cut the deficit to 6-3.
