Twins 5, White Sox 3: Josh Willingham hit a bases-clearing double to cap a four-run rally in the seventh and lift Minnesota to a weather-shortened two-game sweep of host Chicago.
Aaron Hicks singled in the tying run and Scott Diamond (1-1) allowed two runs (one earned) and four hits in six innings to earn the win for the Twins, who have won four straight to pull above .500 at 8-7.
Jeff Keppinger drove in a pair and Adam Dunn homered for the White Sox. Gavin Floyd started and allowed one run on three hits in six innings before handing it off to the bullpen, which let the lead slip away in the seventh.
Chicago had taken a 2-1 lead on Keppinger’s sacrifice fly in the sixth but Matt Lindstrom (1-1) walked the leadoff batter in the seventh and Hicks eventually pushed him across with a single through the right side. Lindstrom yielded a two-out single to Jamey Carroll before handing it off to Donnie Veal, who walked Joe Mauer to load the bases and left a hanging breaking ball over the plate that Willingham drove to the base of the wall in right-center to put Minnesota on top.
Josh Roenicke yielded Dunn’s solo homer in the bottom of the seventh but Jared Burton worked a scoreless eighth and Glen Perkins was perfect in the ninth to lock down his fifth save.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Chicago LHP John Danks (shoulder) is scheduled to meet with team trainers and general manager Rick Hahn on Monday to discuss the next phase of his rehab. … Burton has not been scored upon in eight appearances spanning 7 1/3 innings. … Keppinger’s two RBIs doubled his season total.
