Red Sox 10, Angels 5: Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a pair of home runs, David Ortiz added a three-run blast and Mike Carp also homered as host Boston took the rubber game from Los Angeles.

Jacoby Ellsbury added an RBI triple and Daniel Nava drove in a run for the Red Sox, who finished up a six-game homestand with a 4-2 mark. Ryan Dempster (4-6) allowed three runs and six hits in six innings to earn his second straight win.

Albert Pujols and Alberto Callaspo each hit solo home runs but Joe Blanton (1-10) was knocked around for seven runs (six earned) and eight hits in five innings as the Angels fell for the seventh time in their last nine games.

Los Angeles grabbed the lead on Pujols’ opposite-field blast in the first before Boston jumped on top with a four-run third. Nava plated the tying run with a single to right before Dustin Pedroia singled and Ortiz sent a three-run shot into the Red Sox bullpen in right-center.

Ellsbury’s RBI triple into the corner in right restored a three-run advantage in the fourth and the Angels had cut it back to 5-3 before Saltalamacchia and Carp went back-to-back off Blanton to begin the sixth. Saltalamacchia’s three-run homer in the seventh put the game away.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Dempster struck out six in the contest, giving him 2,001 for his career. He is the fifth active pitcher to reach the mark, following Andy Pettitte, CC Sabathia, Roy Halladay and A.J. Burnett. Dempster is the second Canadian-born pitcher to reach the mark after Ferguson Jenkins (3,192). … Pedroia and Boston 3B Jose Iglesias extended their respective hitting streaks to 13 games. … Angels CF Mike Trout went 7-for-14 with four doubles in the series.
