Braves 1, Rockies 0: Mike Minor carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning and Craig Kimbrel recorded a four-out save as host Atlanta won for the third time in four games.
Minor (8-10), who had lost three of his past four decisions, allowed just one hit in seven innings – a line-drive single leading off the seventh from Colorado’s Jordan Pacheco. Minor followed by striking out the side, finishing with seven strikeouts and four walks.
Kimbrel struck out Pacheco with runners on second and third to end the eighth. He worked around a walk in the ninth to strike out the side for his 33rd save, in the first game this season he has entered in the middle of an inning.
The win extended the Braves' lead to three games over St. Louis for the top NL wild-card spot. They remained 7 1/2 games back of Washington in the NL East after the Nationals blitzed the Chicago Cubs 9-1.
Atlanta scored its lone run in the fourth. Chipper Jones led off the inning with a single to center and advanced on a Freddie Freeman walk.
Brian McCann hit a grounder to second that resulted in Freeman being forced out, but shortstop Josh Rutledge’s throw to first was wide. Jones scored on the error to put the Braves ahead 1-0.
Colorado starter Alex White (2-8) allowed one run on two hits with four walks in four innings, throwing 71 pitches.
