White Sox 8, Cubs 3: Gordon Beckham hit a go-ahead home run for the second straight game and Paul Konerko added a three-run double as the host White Sox beat the Cubs for the third consecutive night.

Jose Abreu went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and scored twice for the White Sox, who can avenge their four-game sweep against the Cubs in last year's Crosstown Cup with a win Thursday. John Danks (3-2) struck out eight and allowed three runs on four hits over six innings for the win.

Mike Olt homered and Emilio Bonifacio and Luis Valbuena also drove in runs for the Cubs, who have totaled four hits in each game of the series. Left-hander Travis Wood (2-4) was tagged for eight runs and eight hits over four-plus innings in the loss.

Abreu doubled in the first and scored on Alexei Ramirez's RBI single, but the Cubs answered in the top of the second when Starlin Castro scored from first on Valbuena's double to left. Beckham broke the tie with a three-run blast on a 1-0 slider from Wood in the fourth.

The Cubs trimmed it to 4-3 on Olt's solo shot and Bonifacio's RBI double with one out in the fifth, but stranded the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position. Konerko's bases-clearing double broke it open in the fifth and Marcus Semien added an RBI single later in the frame, and the White Sox bullpen took care of it from there.

GAME NOTEBOOK: White Sox relievers have allowed two earned runs in 37 2/3 innings over the past 11 games and have worked 12 scoreless frames in the series. … Cubs manager Rick Renteria was ejected for the third time this season after arguing with home plate umpire Tom Woodring in the fifth. … The Cubs placed RHP Pedro Strop on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin and recalled LHP Zac Rosscup from Triple-A Iowa.
