Koren Johnson scored a game-high 23 points and Keion Brooks Jr. added 22 points and nine rebounds as Washington upset No. 18 Washington State 74-68 in a Pacific-12 Conference game Thursday night in Pullman, Wash.
Moses Wood had 10 points and eight rebounds, Sahvir Wheeler added nine points and six assists and Wilhelm Breidenbach scored eight for the Huskies (17-14, 9-11 Pac-12), who got their first road win over a Top 25 team since coach Mike Hopkins' first season in 2017.
Isaac Jones led Washington State (23-8, 14-6) with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Isaiah Watts scored 15 and Oscar Cluff added 12 for the Cougars. Guard Myles Rice, a contender for Pac-12 freshman of the year, was limited to eight points on 2-of-9 shooting.
The Huskies shot 50.9 percent (28 of 55) while limiting the Cougars to 39.4 percent (28 of 71), making just 4 of 24 3-point attempts.
It was the 299th meeting between the Apple Cup rivals and the last in the regular season as members of the same conference as the Huskies are headed for the Big Ten next season and the Cougars will compete in the West Coast Conference in basketball.
The Cougars led 53-50 with less than nine minutes remaining when the Huskies put together an 11-0 run, sparked by three consecutive layups, to take the lead for good. The Cougars never got closer than three points the rest of the way.
Washington led 32-30 after a back-and-forth first half.
The Huskies took an early 11-4 lead on a 3-pointer by Wood.
The Cougars put together a 10-0 run, thanks to two dunks by Watts off UW turnovers, to take a 19-15 advantage.
WSU extended the lead to 30-20 lead with 2:16 left in the half before the Huskies closed with a 12-0 run. Wood's 3-pointer from the left corner tied it and Wheeler's driving layup at the buzzer made it 32-30.
Brooks had nine points in the first half and Breidenbach, getting a surprise start for ailing center Braxton Meah, had eight points on 4-for-4 shooting.
Jones scored nine with six boards for WSU and Watts scored seven. Rice had just two points on 0-for-5 shooting.
