Sophomore guard Christen Cunningham scored 20 points and Samford used a 15-2 run to open the second half in defeating Nebraska 69-58 on Sunday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb.
Senior guard Darius Jones-Gibson scored 15 points and freshman center Wyatt Walker added 14 for the Bulldogs, who were playing on the road for the eighth time in nine games.
Samford (8-4) trailed by four at halftime but led by as many as 13 points with 13:01 remaining after shooting 8-of-9 from the field while forcing four Nebraska turnovers.
Senior guard Shavon Shields scored 25 points and junior guard Andrew White had 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead Nebraska (7-5).
Shields made a three-pointer to get Nebraska within 58-53 with 2:02 remaining, and freshman guard Glynn Watson made two free throws to keep the margin at five with 1:37 to play, but the Bulldogs pulled away.
Nebraska was playing its first game in a week, and it showed in the first half, when the Cornhuskers missed their first eight free-throw attempts and committed 11 turnovers, four on charge calls.
Nebraska finished with 17 turnovers.
Samford led 15-13 with 6:59 remaining in the first half when Shields and White combined for 11 straight points to spark Nebraska. The Cornhuskers led 30-26 at halftime.
