Penn State 89, St. John’s 82 (OT): Tim Frazier scored 29 points and went 10-for-10 from the free-throw line in overtime as the Nittany Lions held off the Red Storm to advance to the Barclays Center Classic final.

D.J. Newbill scored 25 points for Penn State (6-1), which squandered a 15-point lead with 11 minutes left in regulation but survived to advance into Saturday’s final against Mississippi. Frazier finished 17-for-20 from the free-throw line and the Nittany Lions went 10-for-25 from 3-point range.

D’Angelo Harrison led St. John’s (4-2) with 20 points, but missed a free throw with two seconds left in regulation. Max Hooper scored 15 points and Phil Greene IV added 14 points for the Red Storm, who will face Georgia Tech in the consolation game Saturday.

Two Frazier free throws with 1:06 remaining in overtime put the Nittany Lions ahead 83-80, but Jamal Branch’s layup with 27 seconds left brought St. John’s within 83-82. Frazier made it 85-82 on two free throws five seconds later and converted four attempts in the final 17 seconds.

The Red Storm rallied from a 62-47 with 11 minutes left, tying the game at 71 on Harrison’s four-point play with 1:26 remaining. Frazier hit three free throws with six seconds left to put the Nittany Lions up 75-74 but Harrison – who came into the game shooting 82.9 percent from the free-throw line – hit 1-of-2 free throws with two seconds remaining to force overtime.
