Houston 54, Texas Christian 48: TaShawn Thomas had 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Cougars to a win over the host Horned Frogs in a defensive struggle.

Houston (6-2) never trailed after scoring the game's first 10 points and led by double digits for the bulk of the contest before a closing surge by Texas Christian made the final score more respectable.

Joseph Young scored 12 points for the Cougars, who made only one 3-pointer. Kyan Anderson scored all 20 of his points in the second half for the Horned Frogs (6-3), including seven in the final minute.

TCU trailed 12-1 before Nate Butler Lind hit a jumper with 12:03 left in the first half, ending an 0-for-9 stretch to start the game. The Horned Frogs got within eight points at the break, but had more offensive issues in the second half.

Anderson's 3-pointer with 18:02 left represented TCU's only basket for the first six-plus minutes of the second half. Danuel House's jumper gave the visitors a 35-23 advantage with 13:35 to go, and the Horned Frogs did not get within single digits until an Anderson layup with 3:33 left.
