Demontez Stitt scored 17 points - and converted some key free throws - as Clemson pulled out a 63-59 victory at Miami (Fla.) on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers (18-9, 7-6 ACC) won a late foul-shooting contest, taking a 58-57 lead on a pair of free throws from Stitt with 34.5 seconds remaining. Andre Young hit two more from the line with 10 seconds left to stretch the margin to 61-58, and Stitt rebounded an intentional miss by Adrian Thomas at the other end to seal it.
Overall, Clemson hit 18 of 21 free throws - including 11 of 13 from Stitt. Miami hit 15 of its 23 attempts.
Young led Clemson with 18 points.
Durand Scott scored 16 points and Thomas added 13 points to pace the Hurricanes (16-11, 4-8).
Nine of Miami's last 10 games have been decided by four points or less. The Hurricanes are 4-5 in those contests.
