Nets 115, Wizards 113 (2OT): Joe Johnson’s step-back jumper with 0.7 seconds left in the second overtime lifted visiting Brooklyn past Washington.
Johnson finished with 18 points, Brook Lopez collected 27 points and 13 rebounds and Deron Williams had 24 points and 10 assists for the Nets, who moved to 4-1 under interim coach P.J. Carlesimo.
Brooklyn grabbed a quick lead in the second overtime as Keith Bogans scored five straight points. The Wizards battled back to tie it on rookie Bradley Beal’s free throws with nine seconds left, but the Nets called a timeout and drew up a play for Johnson. He took a hard dribble toward the lane and pulled back for the jumper.
Beal hit a 3-pointer at the end of the first overtime and scored 24 points while Jordan Crawford added 23 and Nene had 20 for Washington, which dropped its fourth straight game. The Wizards had an eight-point lead in the first overtime before Brooklyn used an 11-0 run to grab the edge.
It went back and forth in the final two quarters until Lopez’s put-back dunk with 3.2 seconds left gave the Nets the lead at 93-91. Washington called a timeout and ran a play for Nene, who hit a nine-foot jumper with 0.8 seconds left to send it to overtime.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Nets played one other double-overtime game this season, Dec.14 against Detroit, in which Johnson nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Brooklyn the win. … The Nets were coming off a 17-point win at the best team in the NBA (Oklahoma City) but allowed the NBA-worst Wizards to jump out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter and played from behind the whole night. … Washington went 9-for-18 from 3-point range, led by Crawford’s 4-for-5 effort.
