Blackhawks 7, Oilers 1: Captain Jonathan Toews scored twice as visiting Chicago erupted for a season-high goal total in handing Edmonton its sixth straight defeat.
Marian Hossa collected a goal and three assists, Patrick Kane tallied for the fourth consecutive game and Kris Versteeg added a goal and an assist as the Blackhawks won their third straight and improved to 5-1-0 in their last six. Marcus Kruger and defenseman Duncan Keith also scored while Corey Crawford turned aside 24 shots to keep the Oilers winless against the Western Conference.
David Perron averted the shutout with a third-period goal for Edmonton, which dipped to 0-10-1 against conference opponents. Ben Scrivens was dented for five goals on 13 shots before yielding to Viktor Fasth (15 saves) early in the second period.
Brandon Saad's backhand pass sent in Toews alone on Scrivens and he converted at 3:48 of the first period before Kruger buried a wrist shot 55 seconds later. Toews deflected a slap shop by defenseman Brent Seabrook for a 3-0 first-period edge before Chicago turned it into a rout with three goals in the first 3:50 of the middle session.
Versteeg batted a rebound of his initial stuff attempt past Scrivens, who kicked the loose puck into his own net on a 5-on-3 just 76 seconds into the period. Hossa added another power-play tally by knocking home a rebound to end Scrivens' night before Keith blasted a shot by Fasth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Hossa ended a nine-game goalless drought with his first tally since Oct. 30 and has nine assists in the last seven games. ... Perron also halted a nine-game goalless string with his second tally of the season. ... Backup G Antti Raanta was scheduled to start for the Blackhawks - his first in a month - but was ill and gave way to Crawford. ... Blackhawks F Daniel Carcillo earned his first assist of the season in his 400th career game.
